Thumb vs Foot. Thumb Wins!

We recently took delivery of some new Kubota U17-3HGA, 1.7T zero tail swing excavators complete with tilting hitches.  Best of all, the controls for the tilt hitch operation are on the left hand joystick and not on the service port foot pedal.

The controls on the joystick came at significant extra cost but the benefits are worth it.  For example, aside from fingertip (or thumb tip) control, you get no unintended movement when using an auxiliary attachment such as an auger drive and purposeful tilt control for attachments such as a hydraulic grab.
