This motorised unit often called a lawn corer, has an axle of hollow tines which are driven into the lawn, and pull out cores of soil and deposits them back onto the lawn.  Great for helping water, oxygen and nutrients get into the soil.  Also used loosening compacted lawn areas when used with a subsequent process of spreading sand or gypsum.
